Why choose a Savour™ cooking party for
your next team-building event?
Over the years we’ve worked with some of the country’s leading corporate companies as well as many small to medium businesses, many who are repeat customers. Our cooking parties are fun social events that also foster connection and communication, breaking down barriers that often occur in typical hierarchies of the workplace.
Connection
There’s something very powerful and connecting (levelling even, in some cases) about bringing people together to prepare and share a meal. During our chef-led or Masterchef-style classes, your group will work in smaller teams to hone culinary skills, working together to produce a delicious meal they’ll share at the end. Whether they’re playing a lightly-competitive cooking game such as blindfolded taste-test, or speed whipping egg whites, your employees will call on their individual strengths–be it a strong forearm or a discerning nose for spices- for the benefit of the whole team. Teams also make decisions together by engaging the five senses, tasting different flavours, balancing colours and textures, and understanding diverse ingredients and how they work together to make a delicious dish.
Communication
During our cooking parties, your employees have fun while learning how to communicate and delegate in a different environment from your workplace, all while performing tasks under pressure. This fosters new, positive dynamics among employees, skills they’ll carry into their everyday work life that’ll help them excel and feel more connected. In our Masterchef-style classes, this takes the form of the team deciding what to make out of a mystery box of ingredients, delegating roles within the team: who will chop and prep? Who’s in charge of the stove? Who will decide the name of your dish? Who comes up with how the dish is plated? Who is keeping track of the time? Who is tempted to bribe the judges!? (Just joking)
We’ve seen groups positively transformed by the experience. One recent party stands out: at the end, one of the employees spoke up to say he was sceptical about the whole idea of cooking with his workmates. He preferred to cook alone, at home. But by the end of the cooking party, he was beaming and explaining to all of us that the experience made him feel closer to his team and appreciate aspects of his fellow employees that he wasn’t able to see before. His team was back the same year for a second class! And enquired recently about planning a third!
In sum, your team will create more than a great dish in the kitchen, they’ll also walk away with a new appreciation for teamwork and each other.

"Our team did a private cooking class and lunch with Wendy...as part of a team building day. We made an 8-course Persian feast. Wendy was fantastic. We couldn't get over how organised everything was - and not having to do you own dishes was a real plus. Our recipes were clear, and Wendy was so helpful, patient and fun. The day was a pleasure. And the food was delicious! We had a great time. I would thoroughly recommend Savour's cooking classes - whether you're taking a private or public class."
Victoria Stewart, Kindrik Partners
"Everyone really enjoyed themselves and was still buzzing about it at work the next morning! We will also make sure to recommend you if we have anyone looking for a good team building event!"
Mollie Robinson, Wellington International Airport
"As a team building event for a group of 13 we cannot recommend highly enough the MasterChef class at Savour. It was a fast paced hugely entertaining 2 ½ hours that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Wendy and her team were engaging and assisted without taking over and certainly gave us what felt like free reign over the kitchen!"
Diane Nelson, NZTA
"What a cool team activity! We had such a blast and really enjoyed the mini and main event challenge. Was so much fun and our meal tasted amazing. Defo recommend!!!"
Maria Fa'afoi, Meridian Energy
