Time: 2pm-4:30pm

Location: Savour Headquarters (aka Chef Wendy's home), 94 Oban St., Wadestown, Wellington

Spaces are very limited in this workshop. Workshop participants will take away 2 edible gifts that we'll wrap in festive cellophane and paper, with handmade labels we'll get crafty making together!

Treat yourself and spoil your loved ones this festive season with delicious edible gifts. During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn tricks, tips and recipes from trained pastry chef and owner of Savour Cooking School, Wendy Joyce. During the 2 1/2-hour workshop, you’ll make two edible goodies: a rich and nutty chocolate panforte reminiscent of traditional ones from Siena, and another Italian treat, almond biscotti. By the end of the workshop you will have two irresistible edible gifts to take home with you, nicely wrapped in cellophane and ribbon with creative tags we’ll get crafty making together, plus you'll have learned the skills to recreate these recipes at home. Both treats last a long time at room temperature which makes them perfect gifts for you to make in advance to give your friends and family this holiday season.

and delicious edible gifts for the holidays. Join Savour founder Chef Dr. Wendy Joyce at her home and organic garden where we'll begin by enjoying herbal tea and homemade kombucha (made from herbs grown in the garden) together on the deck before heading into the kitchen to make several edible gifts you be proud to give to your loved ones--or keep for yourself!.

This workshop is for you if you're keen to:

1)  learn more about the healing properties of herbs and how to blend you own herbal teas depending on your and your loved ones' individual health challenges and flavour preferences

2) make your own gifts. These gifts are perfect for Christmas presents! And we'll have fun making creative labels with bespoke stamps we have (pohutukawa, a cute honey bee, Savour logos), and festive twine

3) if you've been craving getting creative and crafty in the kitchen and want to make special gifts for your loved ones this holiday season

What to expect on the day:

You'll be greeted with a calming botanical tea and kombucha made using herbs from our organic garden. If it's a fine day, we'll sit outside on the large garden deck overlooking the harbor. If it's rainy, we'll sit inside where former Prime Minister David Lange once sat (his speech writer and partner Margaret Pope was a former owner of the house).

We'll then head into the kitchen to make our own herbal products tailored to your individual preferences:

1. An herbal tea blend of dried flowers and herbs. Here's your chance to get creative and choose which you put in your blend depending on your own flavour preferences and healing needs (we'll discuss specific healing properties of the herbs). Some we'll have on hand: lemon balm, hops, lavender, chamomile, hibiscus, lemon verbena, rose petals..

2. Chocolate herbal bliss balls full of yumminess!

3. An infused herbal vinegar: herbal vinegars make great gifts to package up for holiday giving and are a delicious way to incorporate herbal flavours in your cooking. We'll supply pretty bottles, and labels and some herbs to create a subtle flavoured vinegar.

4. A culinary herb salt using dried herbs from our organic gardens: another great way to incorporate herbs into your diet. You can cut down on your salt intake when you add herbs or dried seaweeds, and add more minerals to your diet.

We'll give you everything you need to package up your herbal gifts to either give away to friends and family or keep for yourself! Lovely bottles and jars, labels, ribbon/twine, creative stamps for the labels, and a cute flax tote bag to take it all home in. Plus recipes and notes so you can make these items again and again at home.

The afternoon is a lovely balance of tasting, making, and learning with Wendy.
